War or Peace in Sri Lanka????
So seems like Sri Lanka could be running back into War. The possibilty of peace talks seems to be null or just some “aroma” in the air but nothing conclusive. The capture of the town of Sampur by the SL Army seems to have provoked a feeling of invincibility among the ruling elite of the goverment and negligence of the sophisticated nature of the LTTE army. I am neither a supporter of the LTTE or the SL Army so before anyone starts writing hate comments on my blog read more ….
What does this all mean?
It means we are back to an era of fear, no freedom and absolute chaos. The LTTE will be waiting to target SL forces and if possible take vengenace for the displacement and killing of Tamil civilians in its areas. The SL army is going to ride high on its optimism and victories just like anyone would do. Just seems too illogical to think any other way.
Whos going to get screwed?
Ah of course it will be innocent Tamil and Sinhala civilains living around the areas where war could be sparkling. Many young Tamil men are going to disappear and well I could also be on the list. Many young Sinhala men are going to die when some claymore attack goes off.
Who is not going to affect?
It will definetly not affect the rich and supporters of the ruling party. All the “big” men including the ones on the rebel side will remain big and live happily while blood is shed because of their policies.
What is going to happen to Sri Lanka?
War is going to continue and people will continue to die. A man from India told me once that Sri Lanka will always have war since that is where the King Ravana from Ramayana was born. I used to think he was an idiot but well seems very believable now.
Sad to think that all this “war” feeling is going to cause hatred and separation among Tamil and Sinhala brothers. A small conversation at a bar about the war could have ill feelings among good friends. Provocation and jokes could be taken the wrong way and most of all innocent people will be killed while the affulent party on as if nothing is happening in the island.

what a sad state for all of you lankans. glad i am an indian. I used to associate sl’s with bad people because of Ravana, but now, I havelots of sl friends. But what is to become of your country no?
Let me get some thing straight. There is no such huge war between sinhala and tamils goin around here. Its a matter of so called small set of Tamils trying to establish there so called selfish ambitions over killing people and the government trying to stop it. Thats all. Foriegn and some local media may want to make this huge but its not that big. We are a country with great hospitality and peace from ages. More than 80% of the Tamils live in areas out of the so called “war zone”. It proves the situation very well.
Ah hate to disagree with u feather man… If you think you are patriotic lankan …i cry when SL loses in cricket sometimes …{ meaning much more patriotic} but the problem is machang …now i feel scared to even go out to put a drink …bloody tamils are getting wacked left and right …and no machang not 80% of Tamils live outside of the war zone unless of course u take into consideration the ones who left the country …Mang being a Tamil and being a Lankan …its a bit of a pathetic state for Tamils …the other day i heard some buggers talking in an office “Machang me Demala katiya te gande ona” - Thats not just LTTE - all Tamils mate ..
See machang …the country is in such a situation where people are going to make use of the “fear” that has been created …and well basically its the helpless thats going to suffer ..

I agree on some points what u mention dude. There maybe some stupid set of people who wants a war and turmoil in the country which they can get some buck just like what happened in 83. But not any one. I Have never heard any one say that all tamils should be wiped off from Sri Lanka me being a sinhalese and among many discussions. When we say tamils we mean LTTE and not tamils every where. We are all Sri Lankans and there is no doubt. But not LTTE. They dont want to be treated as Sri Lankans so they want another land. So we dont treat them and thats simple as that. And since u mentioned cricket think of Murali. He is tamil and does a single sinhala man hate him for that. I dont think so. The problem is not with the sin and tamil. Its with whats needed and what can be given.

I mean it is a sad state for tamils and singalese, but if it weren’t for your bloody president Bandaranike Sr. this country wouldn’t have been in the state that it is in now. I mean for heavan’s sake, can’t u see that the LTTE are only fighting to get back what is rightfully theirs. I understand exactly what they are going through, even though i am an indian tamil. I most def. sympathize but i don’t condone suicide bombings….too messy ma! I guess if you aren’t a tamil you wouldn’t understand. Well ok you obviously are not a tamil, and just because I am an indian tamil doesn’t mean I don’t know jack about what is going on in your country. Obviously in your country they didn’t teach you in school how to keep your hands to yourself. I mean duh? Didn’t you already know that. And never tell a tamil to keep their nose out of SL’s business. My uncle who is Neelan Thiruchelvan was killed by an LTTE suicide bomber yet I understand their plight. So don’t tell me what I need to do, theriyada or tk? And if TK had a real problem with what I have said he can speak his mind and give me his opinion.
